rippppppp

I have become a more grown up knitter. Part of me is sad to say this, I enjoyed living in my days of non-caring about the finished project. But OH woe is me, things have changed. The Vest that I had completed has been completely, and i mean COMPLETELY ripped out. The vest didn't fit exactly how i wanted it to, and the fabric wasn't as nice as i know it can be .... so I am going to reknit it and drop down a needle size. YES i did swatch. But I have to do some fandangoing around the armhole shaping and I think I am going to put a bit of shaping in around the waist.

The only problem is that there are so many things that i want to knit. Where do I find the time? *sigh*

projects finished...

Well I have actually finished a project. The vest out of Berocco's Uxbridge Tweed that was my 'drunk' knitting project. I feel so grown up because I actually frogged the top part and reknit it. Something that made me feel very Beckyish.

On the Fair Isle quest. I have decided to do a childrens sweater so that i don't invest all off my time on a sweater for myself and then ruin it if i don't do something properly, like the cutting of the steeks.

Ponch: I am working on a poncho as a store model for work. A bunch of us are using the Ann Norling poncho pattern and have mixed different yarns together. I am quite happy with my selection and am about a 1/3 of the way done. I keep switching between that and the fair isle ... going from size 11 needles to size 1.

Short Row sweater: I am about half way up the back of the sweater and am loving both it and the yarn [rowanspun dk].

Intarsia Rooster: This is a project that i started early summer for a store model. BUT after completing the front part I realized that I had blown right over the armhole shaping. Normally I would have found a way around it BUT it is a store model and I do want it to be correct.. SO i had to rip the rooster out. I was pissed at the sweater thus it went away, where I could not see it or think about it. I did however pull it out this week and rip rip rip and then started the rooster again. I am at the point where I will be shaping the armholes the next time that i pick itup.

furniture anyone?

Just a quick note to say that my yarn is going to have its own furniture. I hit the local thrift store and was able to buy two nice old dressers and a serving hutch. The dressers will hold my yarn and the serving station is going to be my blocking area. I can't wait. It is going to be delivered tomorrow, and at that time I will make sure that I get some pictures so that You can see where my yarn will be living.

No longer will it be thrown in bags around the house, in different rooms, away from each other. If you listen carefully at night You can hear the yarn talking to each other, missing each other because its been separated. Although, there are those few stray skeins that tend to argue with each other, those will be kept in their own drawer so as not to disrupt the others who can play well together.

dress done

the dress is done ... three hours of weaving in ends ... and then i had to crochet an edging around the neck and armholes ... but it is done ... done done done. I am SO thankful. NEVER again will i do stripes for an auction piece *lol* way too much work.

And now ... well we have room for more projects! At our staff meeting on Sunday it was decided that we would all do legwarmers. SO i picked out my yarn today *G* but that is a secret.

We are also going to be doing poncho's out of a bunch of different yarns. I am using Rowan's cork and a yarn called Konny. I'll get pics of those up. I think it will be awesome and will go fast since the gauge is nice and big. everyone needs some instant gratification every now and then.

fairisle fantasies

I have decided that it is time to branch out. To expand on my skills [minimal as they are] and challenge myself. Currently I am working on RGH (i'm too lazy to do the links so scoot on over to the side bar and click there to see) which has cables in it. Then there is charmed, which is full of stripes and short rows. [am loving how the rowanspun dk is knitting up] But this just isn't enough. I need something more. I want to try it all. I am addicted!!!

I have purchased a bunch of books about Fair Isle to add to my continually growing collection. But today while at a staff meeting, I was flipping through a Jo Sharpe book and i found my first fair isle project. It basically is just one repeating pattern and i believe that will make it a little easier to learn. I have already ordered the book and am so excited. This is great because it gives me incentive to work harder on my other projects.

Speaking of other projects, my mindless drunk knitting project [the preppy vest] is almost at the point where I will be dividing for the armholes. I've only spent a few hours on it yet it knits up quite quickly. I do like the Berroco yarn yet i keep pulling out pieces of straw from it. I guess its processed close to the sheep!

preppie girl

I'm almost done the girls dress for the auction at Cameron's daycare. It will be done this weekend, for which i can't be more thankful about.

As for other projects. Everything else I am doing I have to think about. So I decided to do up a quick pullover vest out of Berroco's Uxbridge Tweed in the color 'oxblood'. I got the pattern out of The knitters Book of Handy Patterns. It will be a simple v neck because lets face it. Chesty woman needs vneck sweaters to help make them look not so big. Plus, i've always loved the look. Its pretty easy knitting since i'm doing it in the round and can just sit there and mindlessly knit. Gotta love those sorts of projects.

Pictures as Promised

How long has it been .... i know i've been promising pictures forever but i just haven't gotten around to it. Having this spiffy new laptop has helped tons ... for example ... i'm sitting here ... watching Trading Spaces $100,000 episode ... uploading pictures and knitting. Can life get much better?? Okay it could .. if i had someone to cook for me and to rub my feet ... a professional .. not my husband .. you all know how men are ... however ... that conversation is NOT for a knitting entry.

1) I thought that I would show you pictures of where i work. People have been asking for pictures for awhile and I took the camera in the other day to get some.

2) Next, some pictures of my work. I have finished two store models this past summer. One I call Kim. Basically because that is the name of the yarn and I am not that creative when it comes to naming things.

The other store model that I finished was my Stash Attack Vest
. Mind you, it wasn't my own stash that i was attacking. It was the stores. All you yarn lovers out there .. you know for a fact how cool it would be [is] to pick whatever yarn you want and knit the project ... just because!! For us the storemodels stay in the store for awhile and we can wear them as we wish ... and then after a period of time has passed we get to bring them home. So basically the store becomes a closet for your knitted projects.

So no more whining. I am going to be updating my gallery section so that it has its own page. I will also get some pictures of the girls dress and other projects I've got on the go. Those will be done this week.

swatch happy

At work today during down time (aka helping customers with their knitting) I was able to swatch for my next store model. I am going to be doing the short row sweater out of the Fall 2003 issue of Interweave knits. The yarn is the luscious Rowanspun dk ... and tonight i have made more progress on the dress. I'm trying to do one set of stripes a night. Thankfully there continues to be decreases!

I work this weekend so we will have to see about knitting time. BUT i promise that there will be pictures pronto.

isn't he just the cutest?

fall already?

Can you believe that we have already celebrated the first day of fall?

I think this means we need to celebrate with buying some new projects. Or perhaps pulling out some from the stash? ICK why would we do that. ITs all about the new projects. The Save your Cash Use your Stash vest is done (yes yes I know .. pictures) and all my other projects are pretty much on hold for the moment as I am doing a child's dress for an auction that is being held at Cameron's daycare. I want to get it done so that I can move on to other projects.

There is a special project for a special someone ... I have to get to work on that one but again, I only want to work on it when that someone isn't really around.

Then .. of course there are the countless other projects. How does one decide? its so tough. And I hate making decisions right now. So ya never know. I just might end up with a ton more projects.

Oh and have been on EBaY buying old copies of Rowan. Bad Bad Bad ebay.
