November 30, 2003b&b anyone?Okay so the Bed and Breakfast sweater from Interweave Knits 2003 Holiday Issue. Elisabeth from Curls and Purls is already knitting it out of luscious cashmere. I have have the yarn in my stash for it also. SO, since of course there are some people who need an excuse to knit another sweater here it is. The B&B Knitalong. It sounds like a rather decandent experience. Like a vacation. Sitting on the porch or curled up by the fire. Its the getaway from the everyday knitting experience. Now of course there are some rules. What would a knit along be without rule? 1) This is a luxurious sweater, so it calls for a nice feeling yarn. That yarn must be nice feeling to you. (hey if acrylic is your idea of nice go for it) 2) Of course, this is an excuse to start another sweater therefore you must already be knitting something else that you want a distraction from. 3) It must have some sort of pattern like cables, lace or colorwork if you do not wish to do the sweater out of Interweave knits. 4) Being a female, the rules are allowed to be changed and amended at any time (and those who are involved may also make suggestions to the rules) Its really not that complicated. So pick up those needles and get knitting. ![]() Posted by Morgan at 8:33 PM

November 24, 2003you were asking...You were asking about my yarn furniture. Many of you have wondered if it was just a myth that I had made up. Others of you thought that perhaps i was ashamed of having yarn furniture. And then there were those who knew i just was being lazy and didn't take any pictures of it. I had promised that after I got it cleaned up I would take some pictures. However, I decided to instead give you a before and after picture just to let you know what I was working with. ![]() So let me explain. Yes there are many bags of yarn there. Yes those bags are full. Is that all of my yarn? NO .. But it is my most prized yarn (that is except for the yarn that is surrounding my knitting chair). If you look closely you can see Hanne Falkenberg kits, some Rowan yarn (okay tons of Rowan yarn), just a few of my knitting books and other such gadgets. I spent about two hours going through my bags of yarn, remembering just what I had planned to knit (i am going to photocopy the patterns and put them with the bags so I don't forget) and lovingly put the yarn into 2 gallon plastic bags. The final result is as follows: ![]() Ta Da!!! Isn't it pretty? See my wooden swift? Oh and of course the ball winder, every knitter who is serious should have their own swift and ballwinder. It is a necessity in my books. See the middle piece of furniture. That is a serving table .. but it is FULL with 5 Hanne Falkenberg kits that I want to knit. The yarn on the right dresser is some heavenly merino wool/silk/cashmere blend called 'Feelings' in chocolate brown. Oh i can't wait to knit with it. Then there is some Naturalwolle (sp?) that I plan on making a poncho of. And that bag of yarn in the basket ... that is going to be a Fair Isle Rown sweater. The other dresser has my Mano's. Have you knit with Mano's? If not I do recommend it. It also felts beautifully. I think this might be a poncho in the making also. Then there is the Rowan collection of magazines. Currently I am on the hunt for all the magazines. I have most of them but there are a few that are eluding me. So there you have it. Those drawers are stuffed full of yarn. I had to suck all the air out of them and piled them in. Which actually means that their is more yarn in there than if I hadn't done it this way. As for my knitting. Am I following my goals? Nope. I have started a sweater out of the Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Chunky. I have the back done (it only took me 5 hours on Sat night) and half of the front. Plus, now that I have all this yarn, well I am dying to make the Black Plush Poncho that I have planned out. Well I also need to make room in my yarn furniture for future purchases. Women have the right to change their minds, that's what i say!! Posted by Morgan at 10:14 PM

November 18, 2003hello??Hi. Yes I am alive and kicking. Life has just been busy. Ralph has been out of town (is back today YAY!!) and i've been a single mom with three dogs. Its been busy and tiring and I'm so glad He is going to be home. I have been knitting. Yes. But there isn't anything new to report. I did finish my legwarmers *g* no picture though, at least not for a long while since I can't give away the one's that i've done. And I have been working on my mountain colors sweater. I did start one new project. A xmas present for Cameron's school teacher. I know I said that I wouldn't BUT i need to get this done and it will be quick. But nothing else. And OH how the bags of yarn are calling to me... Posted by Morgan at 7:04 AM

November 12, 2003finishing...November is finishing month. Or something like it. I am trying so hard not to start another project until i finish some of the one's that i need to finish. I don't think y'all comprehend how hard this is. I have bought so much wonderful yarn this month due to the anniversary sale at work and my awesome discount. *sighs dramatically* I have one bag in the house hidden and the other two big bags in the back of my car .. i'm not bringing them in because I know me and i know that I will want to swatch and when I swatch I will then want to start and it all goes downhill from there. SO my goals are to make a big dent in my mountain colors top down sweater that i am doing for the Curls&Purls Knitalong, Finish the legwarmers, and make a dent on my two store models that i have to finish. Only then can I start one of (or more) of the projects that I am dying to knit. I can hear them calling out to me from the car, beckoning me ... 'knit me morgan, break down morgan, you want to morgan, i'm going to break your resolve down morgan' ... I will not break down, I will not break down *chuckles* Ohh and on a non knitting note. This time last year I was on bed rest. I have such a HARD time thinking about how fast this last year has gone and that Cameron is going to be a year old in December!!! Posted by Morgan at 10:27 AM

November 7, 2003poncho girlIts a bird ... its a plane ... NOOOOOOO its PONCHO GIRRRLLLLLLL!!! I finished my poncho for work. It was done but the bottom was curling up so I ripped it out ( I seem to be doing that with a lot of things lately ). I decided that since I was ripping it out anyways I might as well make it a tad bit longer. So I added another ball of yarn to the mix and redid the bottom of the poncho in all ribbing. I will get a picture hopefully today and get it posted. However the posting of it won't be tonight since I'll be working late. We are having our anniversary sale tonight!! the store is 9 years old!! And then the next project is legwarmers. We are all doing them at work and they have to be done for Tuesday. Guess I should get started then huh? Posted by Morgan at 8:36 AM

November 1, 2003november already...I can't believe that it is November already. Though in TN You wouldn't know it to be outside. Its going to be in the 80s this weekend. Now how is knitting freak like me supposed to be happy with this sort of weather? I want to wear layers, I want to wear my things, I want to be able to knit with my wool damnitall. What does this weather system think that its doing??? Okay enough of the rage. My son Cameron is sick with foot, mouth and hand disease. Although *fingers crossed* it doesn't seem to be that bad. It seems that he might already be on the upswing of it. At least that is what I am hoping. As for knitting. I finished the poncho. Though I think I am going to have to take out the bindoff and do it again as it seems a tad bit tight. I just can't believe all the things I am willing to redo these days. It must be a bug. I must not be feeling well. I am currently working on my sweater for the curls and purls knitalong and the striped short row sweater from the Fall Interweave. Those are the projects of the weekend. ![]() my little ghost Posted by Morgan at 10:19 AM
