April 21, 2004just a lil bitI had to get my nails done yesterday so I stopped by one of the LYS's in the area. I looked around and spoke with the store owner a bit and then bought some OnLine yarn called Linie in Jeans. It looks like faded blue jeans and I love it. Since I have been unable to knit with smaller gauged yarns I thought I would give something bigger a try. So far so good. One of the good things about my new job is that I actually can knit. So I worked on it a bit today. As soon as I find my digital camera, that I put in a safe place, i'll take pictures! Posted by Morgan at 7:10 PM
April 18, 2004a whole lotta...a whole lotta nothing has been going on. I have a bit of repetitive stress syndrome happening in my right arm. This normally would not be any problem except that its my right hand which is my dominant hand and i use it for everything. Between schoolwork (which includes computer work), journalling (which includes the computer), work (which includes the computer), writing and knitting my right forearm is a little sore at times. I have been able to do a row or two at a time. Yet, of course there is a bright side. The lady that I work with knows how to knit and has been knitting on one of my sweaters *hehe* so there is work getting done on that front. I also ripped out my cotton classic Mandarin sweater from the recent interweave knits. I just wasn't that happy with the look of it for that particular project so I am doing a Designs By Judith sweater. Oh, and Secret knitting Pal. I can't wait till i get to unvail myself to you. I have had so much fun getting you things!! I actually have something else, its this cute little .... Oh wait, I can't tell you yet ... you are just going to have to wait till you get it! April 13, 2004moving ... wooohooooAngel Hair moving to nearby space Co-owners Pam Butler and Andrea Jones signed a five-year lease last week with their landlord, Spiva-Hill Investments, to relocate from Hillsboro Corner to the next-door Village Green shopping center in the space formerly occupied by the Wine Emporium. When the move is completed in May, the yarn store will occupy 1,833 square feet at 4117 Hillsboro Pike, double the 980 square feet currently available at 4121 Hillsboro Pike. “We definitely have outgrown our space for a number of years and this was the right opportunity,” Butler said. She and Jones estimated the store has grown its sales volume 60 percent in 10 years and serves anywhere from 25 customers a day to 250 customers on the busiest days. There are nine part-time employees. The store carries an estimated 75 to 100 lines of yarn products, as well as needles, accessories and books. The new quarters will include a separate classroom area and a bigger storeroom for inventory, as the products are now piled up on shelves in the showroom. Squeezing in between the stacks of yarn are the knitters who show up every day and sit around a table to work on their projects, get help from the staff, and converse with friends. Customers include everyone from grandmothers to football players at Hillsboro High School. “(Angel Hair) offers an escape from the phone and the daily grind and kids. Great lifelong friendships have been formed here,” Jones said. Customer Carole Lewis, who travels from Lascassas near Murfreesboro to visit Angel Hair, welcomed the expansion, saying, “I’m so excited I can’t stand it.” Posted by Morgan at 5:19 PM
