nothingness

Thank you for the bday wishes and the RAOK's that I got!!

I'm sick.

Cameron was sick this weekend.

why is it that kids are full of germs.

why is it that people at the gym can't sanitize the machines when they are done sweating all over them

I haven't been knitting

except for socks

and I'm sick.

ps. Total loss of 7lbs in 2 weeks of exercising and eating right.

too busy to knit

I hate to admit it, but I have been too busy to knit. What have I been doing? Funny you should ask such a question.

First off work as been crazy. Our office is finally open for business. So not only are we helping customers but we also are working on getting things organized. Yesterday the builders finally got the brackets for the shelving in the supply room up. Our break room has been a disaster area due to the lack of shelves and space! Hopefully by Wednesday we will be able to start loading the shelves will supplies. Plus I haven't had a chance to get my office that organized. Its a slow process but its coming along!

Secondly, I have been working out. Up at 4 am during the week to eat and then head to the gym for an hour of weight training with my trainer and an hour of cardio. Then off to work. I signed up for a ten week program that is like a boot camp. The program is actually pretty awesome even though it is extremely demanding. Not only do the trainers work on an aggressive weight training program and cardio program but they also give nutritional advice and I follow a strict food plan (along with drinking a minimum of 4 litres of water a day!!). It is about overhauling my life. My first week is completed today. Nine more to go. So far, I am loving it. If only I can get to bed by 9 pm so I can get enough sleep. That is my one big struggle at the moment.

The working out is what has really left me so little knitting time. Now that I am getting into a routine though I know that I will be getting back into knitting. Plus I DO have socks for a certain sockapalooza pal to knit!!

Sockapalooza

01/09/05

Update: I got The Plot Against America by Philip Roth. The first book in the Knit One, Read Two book ring. I am off to have a bath and start reading it now. I also signed up at the gym today for this intense 10 week program where you get one on one training 5 days a week. The only thing is that the time that was available to me was 4:30 am!! Yikes. But its going to be FANTASTIC. I can't wait to get my butt kicked into gear.

I got my Sockapalooza sock pal yesterday. This week its off to Angel Hair Yarn Co. to see just what sort of socks this person is going to be getting. I have an idea in mind. I want something warm and cuddly and soft.

giving

Have you ever noticed how giving knitters are? We are a bunch of people, brought together by the love of an age old craft who have hearts that are extremely large.

First off. I have been accepted into the Random Acts of Kindness group. I have been covetting them for some time and was excited when I opened my email to find an invitation to join. Already I have recieved a thoughtful gift certificate from Poetic Purl's Danielle. I am a tea lover (this could be because I am Canadian...but then again I could just love tea). She has introduced me to Adagio Gourmet Tea. When I lived in British Columbia there was a gourmet kitchen store that had the best fruit teas. I have not found anything close yet, however this looks very promising! I can't wait to get my sampler pack.

Next. Have you all been over to Stephanie of Yarn Harlot yet?

Knitters without Borders

Ms. Harlot herself has established a movement that is taking over the knitting world (especially us bloggers). I am truly amazed at the fact that the knitting community has raised over $35,000 for Doctors without Borders. I donated today. Have you? Every little bit helps. Skip your latte tomorrow morning on the way to work. Or donate the cost of that sock yarn you were going to pick up this week. If you can, donate more.

February Finishing

01-07-05

It has been decided that February is Finishing month. Do you have any projects that you have been stashing in a very dark corner, behind the beautiful new yarn you've just purchased? Or perhaps you just got tired a project. Then there is that dreaded seaming!! If you are interested in reducing the unfinished pile in your stash join us!!

travelling

I am currently in Vancouver and I have done very little knitting. Its amazing I know. I had forgotten how much I loved it here and how much it is like home for me.

I did bring Charlotte 2 with me to work on. She has given me a few problems but I think that is mostly because I tried to work on her New Years day while I was overly tired.

I am checking my email for the first time in a week and there are a few things to talk about.

First off Sockapalooza is off and running. Thank you Alison for this fantastic idea. I can't wait to start knitting a pair of socks for my pal. I am thinking perhaps something soft and comfy for them to lounge around in? We will have to see the request.

Secondly, it is time for SECRET PAL 4. Can you all believe it? I would leave the address here but I forget what it is *blush*. So far there are close to 200 sign ups when I read the blog. (just do a search for secret pal four, I'm sure you'll find it easily enough).

As far as knitting resolutions go for the new year. I don't have any other than that I want to get my yarn room organized. That is a task in and of itself. As far as knitting content goes. I want to finish 12 projects this year. One for each month. They can be big or small. New or from the stash. I am also thinking that February should be FINISHING Month. Where we pull out some projects and just finish them. Whether that means the knitting or the putting together. I think that we need to do it again later in the year. But I am doing it in Feb for sure. If anyone else is interested in it let me know. We can suffer through our stashed projects together. Heaven knows I have enough of them!!
