TV this season = knitting

I would just like to point out that the Log Cabin is done AND the Ribby Cardi. Pictures to follow. Its dark and there isn't good light in my house.

Now. Is it just me or are there a heck of a lot of good tv shows on this season? We aren't even talking Reality TV shows for the reality junky ... Survivor, Amazing Race, Biggest Loser, both Apprentices ... (am I missing any?)

West Wing started this weekend. Early. It usually starts later in the season. I so wasn't prepared.

Grey's Anatomy. HELLO. Love the show.

Criminal Minds!!!!!!!!!

CSI!!!!!

Law&Order. Numbers. Close to Home.

Ummm so many others that I don't even know their names of but I am loving them ... It is giving me lots of time to knit. I like to veg out at the end of the day when the little guy is in bed. So maybe just maybe I might have even MORE finished projects this year *yeeeeeehawwwww*

PS. Secret Pal. Thanks for my post card.

PPS. to MY secret Pal. I have just sent you something cool. too bad you don't know who I am ... but at least I know how cool it is. *g*

job and class

Job: So a few of you have asked about the job. No not my day time job, but the job that really matters. The knit store job. Their website isn't up yet but as soon as it is I will post the link. Oh you wanted the name. Its Knit One Chat Too. I am quite excited about it. Especially since they are almost done their expansion ... and expansion means more yarn!! Oh and a fire place, a sofa and some very comfy chairs.

Class: No I don't have it, well sometimes I do. But I'm not talking about that. I am taking a class at the above mentioned yarn store call Knit with your Wits. Its all about designing a project ... I am quite excited about it. The sweater is going to be tres cool. Now, I just need to find the perfect yarn ... a knitters quest!

Ribby Cardi: I had completed the rolled collar but I want the ribbed collar. So I took it out. I was hoping to have pictures for you all but I will wait until its completed. This of course will be before the zipper is put in since I have to actually find a zipper that I like!

Secret Pal Questions

Its time for Secret Pal 6. I skipped the last round due to all the life changes going on in my life. To my Secret Pal. It might be good to let me know when you ship a package so that I can check with my post office since my post man doesn't like me or something!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

I am a yarn snob. I think it is because I work in a yarn store and have in the past so I am surrounded by yarns of higher quality. That being said, I don't expect someone to spend a lot of money on expensive yarns. But I'm not a Red Heart/Lion Brand kinda girl.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

No to spinning, sort of to crochet

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)

Cats, Mohair

4. How long have you been knitting?

I learned from my Grandmother, put it off, picked it up again, put it away, and then picked it up when I moved to the States and then when I was pregnant. So all in all seriously for about 4 years

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? No

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

Nothing really heavy and am open to it all.

I don't have much time for anything else.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

Yes. I like 80s. *I hear that gasp* But I really like it all and would love to hear what other people are listening too!

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?

I have red hair and fair skin. I tend to go toward Autumn colors. But I am trying to branch out into Turquoises/Coral etc. I also love blue.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

Single Parent of a 2 1/2 year old boy. I have 2 dogs.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)

To not have to work, to be able to spend time with my son and knit?! I of course always think I'd like to own a yarn store/coffee shop but that is way too much work!

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

Rowan & Koigu

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

Mohair & Angora (not that I don't like it, I just haven't branched out because of my allergies)

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Umm Thats a hard one to break down. I like all of it. So there really isn't just one obsession.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Sweaters, things for my son

17. What are you knitting right now?

Finishing my Ribby Cardi, Starting a sweater that I am designing in my Knit with your Wits knitting class, socks, a Hanne Falkenberg Shawl...

A quick and easy way to stay warm because you can take them on and off quickly

26. Is there anything that you collect?

Nothing other than yarn

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? None

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?

No, I tend to get them from Amazon before they are published and books then just keep getting sent to me

29. Any patterns you have been coveting, but haven't bought for one reason or another??

Adrienne Vitadinni - just because I haven't gotten around to it. I am open to all patterns flowing my way. Like I have said before. I'm addicted & Obsessed. Also good kids patterns.

30. What are your foot measurements, and what kind of socks do you like?

I'll have to do measurements. I just knit them to fit my foot as I go. I am a size 7.5 shoe. I love all knit socks. No favorites.

knitty and other such issues

Please people. STOP DESIGNING THINGS I WANT TO KNIT. There are at least 3 patterns (yes more but three for sure) that I want to knit. *sigh huge dramatic f*ckin sigh*

So little time...

Anyways. On to other more productive issues than drooling over patterns and wondering if there is something in my stash I'd like to use or buy something new...

I have been dedicated to my Ribby Cardi. I can't believe that I have left it so long. My sleeves are almost done. I mean. Its going to take me maybe an hour of quality knitting/tv time to finish the sleeves. Then all I have to do is put it together, do the collar and find a zipper. Silly morgan ... putting it off just because you have issues finishing projects for yourself!!

Also.

I have another job. A knitting Job. Pumped. Excited. Its like coming home. Or perhaps that the mothership has called!

Help Rescue the Pets of Katrina

If you are a pet lover, and even if you aren't think about sparing that one coke you have with lunch or the latte on the way to work. Donate it to Noah's Wish. They are a non for profit organization that ONLY deals with rescues after a disaster. They have been featured on CNN also.

I just donated to them. I figure I can go without yarn for the month. I can knit out of my stash.

Noah's Wish Website
Animals and News Releases from Noahs Wish

Take a look at the pictures and read about what they are doing to rescue all the animals in need. If anyone watched Oprah today you would have seen Nate tell us about how people were being shipped out to shelters but pets were being left behind. Many people risked their lives to save their pets as they are part of their family.

You too can Help

The Red Cross

The Salvation Army

or check out your local television/radio stations. Most have some sort of fund set up. Even here in good ole Calgary people are helping out.

I honestly feel that this is going to be the natural disaster version of 911. It makes me extremely sad and yet thankful about where I am living. The thing is, there can be another hurricane anytime. My prayers, wishes and help are there. Even the smallest help can mean so much. Like some bottles of water. Go buy a case and drop it off.
